Moving, but this saccharin musical is just a bit too preachy.

The cookie cutter plot that is made to fit around the film's host of songs is what ultimately keeps the film from reaching greatness. The character relationships aren't quite believable enough or fleshed out enough to make some of the deeper scenes resonate (although the scenes between Queen Latifah and Keke Palmer as mother and daughter are the most powerful. Latifah is easily the film's best actor, going for broke and doing what she can with a lot of the film's hammier material.) The music, of course, is incredible and well orchestrated/choreographed. I would suggest buying the soundtrack, not necessarily the movie.

well i may be a guy but i still thought that this movie was not all that bad it was actualy rather cute and enjoyably for me because i realy do not like alot of swearing or trash talk in movies and i think the queen dolly parton and keke palmer all did a fantastic job at making this movie look and sound great yea there was some bad language and sex i know all about it but i think still it was a wonderful movie and oh here is a little of the story a woman is trying out for the lead role in her church choir and when the new lady at church snaches it right from under her feet it is a long and hilarious fight to the finish to find out who realy truely is fit to lead this mislead gospel choir
