Better than the first. Had loads likable characters, wonderful action and stunning visual effects. The story moved smoothly this time around. A very much nice improvement from The Hunger Games.

'Catching Fire' is the superior sequel to last year's solid adaptation of 'The Hunger Games'. I'm not being the least bit biased because of my love for the second novel. This sequel is a true improvement over the first. This time, the condensing of the novel is handled much better. The themes seem to shine through stronger, while all of the main plot points are represented with supreme accuracy. Any changes in story are extremely minuscule and the few new additions are welcome expansions. Much more character development is present and the action scenes provide more excitement. The new actors play their parts exactly how I imagined. 'Catching Fire' is easily the best sequel of 2013.

This movie was like empire strikes back but with no sci-fi or light swords.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is an improvement on the good but not great original movie in all departments. The sequel features some excellent acting (Lawrence and Sutherland in particular shine here), more intense and better directed action sequences (courtesy of new director Francis Lawrence) and a bigger budget that provides superior special effects and production design.
