Wilee as in Wile E. Coyote (Gordon-Levitt) is a New York City bike messenger whose name and reputation are so legendary that customers ask for him by name. Wilee has a passion to ride, weaving in and out of pedestrians and cars, subconsciously deciding which route to take and how to avoid a wipeout. He rides fixed gear and refuses to have brakes because he feels it’s “more dangerous”. On one particular day of business, he is asked to deliver an envelope by his girlfriend's roommate Nima (Jamie Chung) who desperately needs it delivered to a Chinese hawaladar by 7pm.

The mysterious envelope worth $50,000 immediately catches the eye of a nasty NYC cop Bobby Monday (played terrifically by Michael Shannon). Monday is a gambling-addict, who is told by the known loan-shark that if he …

Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a New York City bicycle messenger encounters an eager cop named Bobby Monday (Michael Shannon) who needs a package. He refuses the request and the chase ensues for the mysterious package. Without the leads, this would now have been that electrifying. I mean the ones who wear spandex shorts, and jerseys, and look like they have 1% body fat. The ones who fly through intersections while the rest of us impatiently wait our turn at the stop sign. I even had the chance to watch a leg of the Tour De France while I was living over there, and all I could think was: “I’ve never seen so many men with less leg hair than me!” However, after seeing ‘Premium Rush’, I have a newfound admiration for anyone who can commandeer such a small mode of transportation through areas that aren’t meant to be fit through safely.

THE GOOD: …

Review: Premium Rush

In desperate times like this, audiences need something original to enjoy during the summer instead of being pounded over the head again and again with remakes, sequels, prequels, and whatnot. The latest blockbuster is the small, but fast, Premium Rush, a gig that was written and directed by David Koepp, and features great talents such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shannon, and Dania Ramirez. Is Premium Rush a great film? No, but it's at least a good breath of fresh air.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as Wilee, a New York City bike messanger who is the absolute best at what he does. He's aggressive and full of ambition. His job is to get from point A to point B to deliver some sort of message, riding at incredible speed through cars, busses, taxis, and pedestrians. He rides the fixie, …
