Just A Great Film!

They took what worked so well in Iron Man and even Iron Man 2 to a degree and ran with it in an extremely gratifying way with this third installment. The complexity, depth, heart and action were even more off the charts than the first film. I totally agree with most of the film critics who are raving about Iron Man 3. It’s is not just a great comic book movie but a great movie period. They took the complexities of Tony Stark that they established in movie one, developed in movie two and built upon it masterfully. We get a reformed and guilt ridden weapons manufacturer mixed with an anxiety ridden celebrity who is having trouble living that celebrity life after the events of Iron Man 2 and Avengers. His playboy ways are over but everything else in his life makes little sense to him …

What Part 2 broke has now been fixed.

It remains a vast improvement over Iron Man 2 but the now infamous plot twist concerning the villain really spoiled my enjoyment. I mean, had that twist preferably NOT occur, we'd have one of the absolute best superhero movies ever. But I digress. Shane Black still does a great job with the humor and action or combining the two as expected. I mean, here's the guy who practically invented the buddy action genre back in the 80s now having the time of his life and he wants us to join in on the fun. Plot twists aside, the film is one of Marvel's best. The cast is not wasted and Robert Downey Jr. is killing it once again as the seemingly indomitable Iron Man. What's especially inventive on the screenplay's part is that Tony Stark does not even wear the Iron Man suit for most of the movie and …

Summer Blockbuster redefined with fun

sreekirch - wrote on 10/26/2013

The final Iron Man film is out with a bang, Though light hearted and more dramatic, but the action sets up all the fun. Crazy, hardly believable, but has a punch and care that looks really a super summer film tailor made. Director Shane Black (known for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lethal Weapon) does not overload the film with too much non sensical action, but keeps the plot on the move as the finale sets up with the right tension, nerve rattling action pieces and the wanted humor at the right moments. This is the summer film that earns a great view. The action set pieces (air plane rescue, war machines, or the Malibu assault), are really breath taking and charged up by Tyler’s bombastic score. Shane knows how to keep the hints on and wait the surprises are out there at the right moment and …

Possible Spoilers

I was skeptical at first, when I heard Iron Man 3 was being made, because I was still struggling to get the taste of Iron Man 2 out of my mouth. Then I heard Shane Black was attached to the project and I became a little more optimistic. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is to me one of the most underrated and overlooked movies of all time, as well as a personal favorite. Plus, he wrote Lethal Weapon.
The end result: Great. Just what I expected.
Let's start out with the problems. While I love Shane Black, I think his writing style was a little over the top for this film. The way he wrote Tony Stark was spotless and had me laughing every few minutes, but he made a risky decision by adding a twist in the middle of the film. I liked it, but for other audiences it will turn out one …

Iron Man 3

I liked it, didn't love it. Iron Man 3 takes a completely different approach than its predecessors did; in some ways it worked, but in some is did not. The best thing about the film, in my opinion, is that the character of Tony is completely stripped down and his relationship with Pepper gets some more depth; Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow are better than ever in this installment. Such a human approach to the story does leave you wanting a little more at certain points. Apart from the the two main figures, the remaining characters (even the villains) are either underdeveloped or criminally underused. The final moments do deliver some excitement that the rest of the movie lacked. Overall, the result IS an entertaining superhero film even if it is slightly underwhelming.

Iron Man 3

CAUTION!Contains Spoilers!!!

Tony Stark ( Robert Downey Jr.) seeks revenge to a terrorist, named The Mandarin ( Sir Ben Kingsley).
And that's it that's the whole plot.

I have heard very good things about the finale of the Iron Man trilogy and when I watched it, I was just completely disappointed.
The movie begins strong Tony Stark in Switserland, 1999 where he meets Yinsen for the first time and Aldrich Killian(Guy Pearce), the director of a firm named "AIM". Somehow he is with his date Mia (Rebecca Hall) and they are doing experiments.
Back in present day Killian walks into the office of Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and shows her his "big brain". Tony Stark has problems with himself because of the Avengers movie and tries to protect Pepper.
While this happens The Mandarin …

Iron Man 3 review

In this raters opinion the real hero for the third Iron Man installment was artificial intelligence JARVIS. Evidently the cast is back coupled with some new additional artists for the antagonist. Tony Stark / Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) is not in good terms with as Virginia "Pepper" Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), CEO of Stark Industries. The creator of the Extremis virus and the founder of Advanced Idea Mechanics, Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce), Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes / Iron Patriot (Don Cheadle) was just cheesy and unfunny while the talents of a Ben Kingsley was reduced to a comical character. The image of Mandarin, though Guy Pearce lends an earnest portrayal, was just not as fierceful/frightening as Whiplash. The film doesn't have that emotional connection of the original Iron …

"Iron Man 3" by Yojimbo

When Tony Stark's friend and bodyguard is seriously hurt during a series of bombings, he swears revenge and becomes the target of a mysterious terrorist known as The Mandarin. Shane Black takes over the helm of the Iron Man franchise and rekindles the partnership with its star for the hugely enjoyable post modern noir Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It shares the sardonic wit and banter of that film and injects a lot more humour into the story, concentrating more on the character of Tony Stark than his super-powered alter ego. Separating the two makes for a more satisfying story arc than the gizmo-orientated second instalment, especially since Iron Man is one of the few superheroes that are rather less interesting and entertaining than their "secret" identities. Unsurprisingly the set pieces are …

Third times a charm!

Lee - wrote on 05/21/2013

Usually when super hero franchises approach their 3rd or 4th film they start to grow somewhat stale. This isn't the case with the Iron Man series although the previous director of the other two parts Jon Favreau has this time decide to step away from the director's chair and gives the reigns to Shane Black (Who only directed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang before but who is a successful screenwriter ) Black gives us a better sequel then Favreau himself did with Iron Man 2 with all the things that made the original Iron Man great high flying action...explosions (Tony Stark's beautiful Malibu home hanging over the bluffs goes bye bye in this) A menacing villain as in The Mandarin.

Storyline this time around goes as follows; After returning home from once again saving the world it's not long …

A decent finish to the Iron Man trilogy

Shawn - wrote on 05/05/2013

From the standpoint of the MCU this was a very good building block toward phase 2. It looked great, there were plenty of tie-ins to the other franchises and the RDJ was great once again as Tony Stark. The main problem I have with this movie are the villains. Avoiding spoilers, this was one of the worst treatments of a mainstay villain I have ever seen. Until the movies, Iron Man had always been a B team superhero but one of the saving graces had been the Mandarin. He brought an aspect, magic, that had always rivaled Stark's scientific mind. I was hoping with the Avengers including aliens and Thor showing that magic could be done well in the movies that the mandarin would be the BA that he is in the comics but sadly I was left disappointed. This was better than 2 but falls short of the …
