"The Bourne Legacy" by Yojimbo

A sister programme to Treadstone featuring drug enhanced operatives is threatened with exposure in the aftermath of Jason Bourne's activities so the agency sets about "damage limitation" by attempting to assassinate everyone involved. There is nothing particularly wrong with The Bourne Legacy. Jeremy Renner is fine. Rachel Weisz is fine. The action sequences are fine. The plot is workmanlike but far from dreadful. The only real problem with the film is that it's irrelevant; there is literally nothing here that wasn't done - and done better - in the first three films. It's generic but a perfectly serviceable action thriller if you've got a couple of hours to waste but ultimately The Bourne Legacy feels exactly like what it is; just the product of a movie studio trying to wring the last …

Left me wanting more!

Jeremy Renner (Number 5 Aaron Cross) plays another super-soldier who’s out in the Alaska snowy wilderness in a training exercise. It's not long before Washington types decide that the program is in danger of being exposed potentially leading to further revelations of the "Blackbriar" and "Treadstone" programs. This cannot be tolerated and therefore "Outcome" has to go, which basically means that their super-soldiers are to be terminated and the people associated with it.

Renner survives their attacks from the remotely controlled weaponized-drones and he wants answers as to what is going on from the woman who worked on him when he started at Treadstone, Dr. Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz). He also seeks the medication that apparently all subjects need to take to help them increase …

Haphazard flat and wandering Bourneless film

Directed by Tony Gilroy

Starring Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton

Grade : C

The Bourne Legacy should be the last bourne film I hope. This entirely new concept has no relation to Jason Bourne series. The title legacy has nothing to do with the bourne. Yes director would have thought for bringing in another Jason bourne movie. That’s fine. But without Jason Bourne ?? Not a good idea! So what he does in here? He brings in Aaron Cross, whose identity is not known till a point in the movie. Showing jason Bourne in television channel would not save the film. Where is Bourne in the film ? This is the question audience would think after coming out. I expected climax to reveal the whereabouts of Bourne. Nope! I am totally disappointed. So where is the point of another movie …

Aaron run!

The Bourne trilogy contains some of the best action / espionage films ever created. They are extremely well scripted, acted and executed, and really raised the bar for what is possible for these types of movies. When that trilogy came to an end, many people were still thirsty for more (especially considering how fantastic the final film was). However, director Paul Greengrass and the series star Matt Damon would not be returning. How can you continue a franchise without the main character? Do you make a reboot, prequel, or a sequel that focuses on somebody new? Well, the answer to that, more or less, is all of the above. The events of this film run parallel with The Bourne Ultimatum, while fleshing out background info from previous installments while simultaneously building things up …

The Bourne Legacy review

This could have done well if it were not affiliated with the Bourne series. First few minutes of the film confuses, but picks-up when the "chems" were explained. Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) codenamed "Number Five" is a member of a black ops program wherein "chems" are used to enhance physical and mental abilities. Dr. Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz) was rescued by Aaron from the attack of undercover CIA assassins. Character development was flighty, Norton's character somewhat uninteresting and lacks screen-time and method of the storytelling could've had more clarity. It's conclusion somewhat unsatisfying which makes the audience wonder there could have been more to offer. Soundtrack was decent but cinematography makes-up for it. Acting was good, action sequences not overdone …

To tell you honestly, I wouldn't watch this film on the theater if not it was shot in the Philippines. I knew nothing about the Bourne series when I step in to the movie house with my friend. All I understood on the film was that Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz, both good actors by the way, are trying to escape leading them to Manila, Philippines.

Since I'm from the Philippines and very familiar of the setting used on almost half of the film, I would say that the team did well on action and chasing scenes. It just worry me that the film used the unpleasant places of the country. They used one of many tourist spots of the Philippines but …

'The Bourne Legacy' Movie Review

In case you were wondering, it’s never a good idea to go from seeing a movie like Step Up Revolution----which I reviewed last week, and which required very little brain function-----to seeing a movie that, even when you are at the top of your game, is tough to follow. No one’s ever accused me of being a genius, but for the first 45 minutes of The Bourne Legacy, I was starting to worry that my I.Q. was significantly lower than previously assumed.

THE GOOD: Opening with a scene of a body floating in water, The Bourne Legacy is not really as much of a continuation of the Bourne franchise as it is an extension of it. Instead of Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, we have Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross, a member of the black op program “Operation Outcome”. These agents have been given …
