Sassy crime flick about a talented grifter and his crew avenging a friend murdered by a gangster. Lots of heavy hitters in the cast and they all do great. The plot is confusing but that seems to be its intent to explain how the con works later by the end. Felt like it was trying to be Tarantino-lite with less bloodshed. But it's got wit and a sense of humor.

A con man (Edward Burns) gets in debt with the mafia after he targets an accountant working for them for a con. He then has to deal with a shadow assigned to follow him by the mafia boss (Dustin Hoffman). The acting is nearly perfect. Especially from Burns and Hoffman. The supporting cast are also wonderful in their roles. Burns is the one that really stands out from the other characters. The director uses a lot of shadows in this movie. Every shot appears to be set up well. The only thing I'd liked to have seen is more of Andy Garcia. He doesn't appear until near the end of the movie. I would suggest that you either rent this as a first choice, or watch it on HBO (or other cable channel).

I don't remember much about it other than that I thought it was going to be as good as Confessions of a Dangerous mind. I was wrong. Burns is ok, but he shouldn't be in a leading role. Slow moving and forgettable - but still ok.
