Life is no box of chocolates for 1960's Jackson, Mississippi's maids who cook, clean, run errands, and look over children for white households. A college graduate returning home hoping to gain writing experience wants to pen a point of view story from the maids. When a person lets go of fear in order to change injustice results in friendships neither the story-teller or the story-writer thought possible. The Help may not truly depict life as a maid in 1960's Civil Rights Movement in the South, but it doesn't make it a bad film.

I heard some good stuff and some bad stuff about this movie before I watched it. True, it didn't really depict that time period accurately (it was much more violent). But, it did have plenty of good qualities to it.

When I first heard of this movie I knew it was based off of a book and I wasn't sure if the book or the movie was even something I would be interested. After reading the book and not being able to put it down I just had to see the movie. It was amazing! I laughed. I cried. I don't think I have ever done that during a movie. I think what got me is that while the book and movie is fiction is based off a time that really happened in history and that is what pulled me in

I knew this film would be good, but I must say I was blown away by just how good it was. It was touching on many different levels. The truth in it was shocking considering the time in history that it was made, I couldn't believe how gracefully honest and blunt it was. The cast was utterly brilliant, as was everything else about it. It was also so funny. Viola Davis and Emma Stone were amazing.
