Pretty much follows the first film (over-the-top gory deaths, a bit of story on our "villain" Victor Crowley) but, as others have pointed out, the characters aren't as interesting (though it's always nice to see Tony Todd show up). For those who like their gore extra bloody - the Hatchet franchise aims to please. Just don't expect much more out of it.

Hatchet 2 had an 80's style vibe to it just like Hatchet especially the gore but something was off for me & it wasn't as good as the 1st.I don't think there was as much humor as there was in the original. It was alright though. With the way it ended, I'm wondering if there will be a Hatchet 3

With this sequel, we get more backstory on the slasher Crowley, more outlandish gory kills, and more cameos. What's missing this time is most of the fun that I had watching the original. Granted, it does have many noteworthy moments for genre fans, but there is a serious lack of laughs. One of the main strengths of the first was the likable characters and the comedy between them. That is almost non-existant here. The only things keeping 'Hatchet II' above mediocrity, for me, is the great flashback sequence explaining more of Crowley's origin, and the slam-bang finale that replicates some of that fun I had with the first.

Not as good as the first one. Death scenes were over the top, as was expected, but I thought it had more of a H**Y SHIT factor in the first one....also, the acting in this movie was pretty bad. Not that I was looking for Oscar worthy performances, but come on now
