Not my favorite film of 2011, nor one of my favorite horror films, but this is well done nonetheless. Pearce, Holmes, and young Madison carry the film nicely. Great musical score. The concept isn't that great or even remotely scary, but the film is well done.

More of a nightmarish fairy tale for your kids to sleep in your bed at night. Dark tale of creatures tearing a family apart. Wonderful acting, great setting, and all around brilliant movie.

Despite the presence of Guillermo del Toro, this is a weak stab at horror - neither the characters, story nor creatures provide much to get excited about and in the end, this is just another in the long line of forgettable horror films I've seen.

This was the perfect movie to rent for Friday the 13th. The creatures were a let down, i was waiting for them to be quite a bit more scary, but i will admit that there were a few places that made my skin crawl. 'Alex' needed to be a stronger character in my view, he just seem to stay in the background way too much. It being he daughter he should have played a bigger role and 'Kim' should have been more in the background. Makes me want to see the original and compare.

It's a well made movie that fails to deliver. At no point did I feel any tension, or suspense. I couldn't suspend enough disbelief, for the characters and situations, because they were tedious. I also disliked the creatures. It does have it's few moments, but it ultimately left me bored and frustrated.
