I saw Claire Denis' White Material tonight at the L.A. Film Festival. It took a very long time to come out to L.A. I'd give it a 78/100. It had some very good points about those in charge who exploit workers who earn very little. Quote: Isabelle Huppert's character says: "These whites, these dirty whites." And there is a sign that says "Dieu ne baisse pas le bras." It was translated to mean God never gives up on you. But it seems that the meaning is closer to God doesn't let you go from his arms. Or something more along those lines. I'm investigating that. Overall, Huppert is my favorite living actress and it was a delight to see her in a Denis film.
