Jackson has made a career out of playing angry black men, and Ben Affleck has made a career out of playing bland white men, but here the writing gives them both room to actually explore these stock racial archetypes and show us something much richer and more complex. This is a slightly above average thriller, even if it is more insightful than actually thrilling.

A tense and intriguing cat-and-mouse game that doesn't need huge action scenes or explosions to be interesting. Sam Jackson and Ben Affleck find the perfect balance between villainy (neither of the characters have particularly pure motivation) and sympathy. Great, great film.

BAD. UGLY. AVOID. PLEASE. I felt if this could be properly done, it'd be an entertainly watch. But it wasn't. So please. Avoid like the plague!!!!!!!!!! Affleck as an actor had lost it by this point.

There's nothing particularly good or bad about Changing Lanes. It's a have vs. have not struggle - and the characters are more than merely cardboard cutouts, but I could never really get into it. Has its moments, but is mostly forgettable.
