I have read the book, and I have seen the 1979 movie. And I have read all the arguments about not being true to the book and the previous movie being scarier. To me that’s irrelevant. My personal opinion is though however that the 1979 movie might have scared me when I was a child, but I didn’t see it was a child, I saw it many years after it’s release when I was a grown up. And although it got a creepy atmosphere, the special effects are well… from 1979. I might make some people angry with this, but that is not how I review movies. I do not review movies how I felt and how I would have felt. The truth of the matter is that in today’s standards the 1979 movie just isn’t good enough, and the 2004 version of the movie is.
