Elvis Presley is alive and well (well, apart from a growth on his pecker) and living in a rest home in Texas. Until, that is, an evil mummy comes back from the dead to suck the souls of the residents through their ass-holes, so he enlists the help of John F. Kennedy (who is now old. And black. "They dyed me!") to battle the fiend...Sounds ace doesn't it? But the fact is, that's about it. There is very little else to it apart from those initial gags which hang on a plot borrowed from a weak episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Of course, it is fun watching Bruce Campbell impersonating Elvis on a Zimmer frame, but that starts to wear a little thin after an hour and a half. Fun, quirky, but about as substantial as wet toilet paper. |

The absurd story and characters are uniquely entertaining. I enjoyed the performances and the comedy. A refreshingly original and fun cross genre flick. |

Insane premise works thanks to standout performances from Bruce Campbell (as and aged Elvis) and Ossie Davis (as JFK), who fight a soul-sucking mummy at an old-age home in Texas. Silly? Yes, but also brilliant. |

This is one of those silly horror movies, but it made me laugh. You have Elvis and JFK battling a soul sucking mummy wearing cowboy boots. I was fortunate enough to get to see it in Nachogdoches, TX for the "world" premiere. I got to meet Bruce Campbell, Don Coscarelli and Joe Lansdale (the writer of the short story from which the movie was based). |

Bubba Ho-Tep is a great movie. The plot is extremely far fetched and the characters are sometimes a stretch as well but this goes to show exactly how entertaining Bruce Campbell is. A Mummy sucking souls out of people's orifices and then going after Elvis who is supposed to be an impersonator but really is Elvis and JFK. JFK is played by Ossie Davis. You are asking isn't Ossie black? Yes JFK was painted by the government after the assasination "attempt". Just relax and have fun with this one. Word around the campfire is that Campbell backed out of Bubba Nosferastu due to creative differences with the director...seriously it was going to happen. |

After hearing the hype, I was pumped for a Cambell flick with implications of originality and greatness. It was original, but boring and uninteresting. I don't think a 2nd viewing would help it so I would stay away, but try it if you must. |
