With the background of the assassination of the former U.S president Abraham Lincoln, comes a story of a lawyer tasked to defend a woman accused to be one of the conspirators of the killing of the president. Frederick Aicken needs to defend what he do not believe.

Surprisingly, this film is amazing. Actors delivered well, smooth direction, and of course, brilliant story! I can't say more. Highly Recommended! |

I think it was a good movie. Loved Justin Long; I think he was funny. It gave a new insight on someone they never really mentions, Aiken. James did a pretty decent job with that. |

Robert Redford directs a careful study of Mary Surratt, a woman accused of being a conspirator in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Robin Wright is good in the role, and James McAvoy is good as the lawyer assigned to defend her. The movie basically boils down to a 19th century courtroom drama, but there's enough satisfying performances to keep your interest. Kudos to Redford, who has painstakingly recreated an era in terms of set design and costumes, you can tell he put a lot of work into this film. If you know your history, you know how this turns out, but it doesn't spoil the movie at all. |
