This is an underrated modern European masterpiece, in my humble opinion. With little dialogue, emphasizing atmosphere and tension, George Clooney easily gives the best performance of his career. The cinematography and shots of Italian landscapes are indescribably beautiful and Anton Corbijn was undoubtedly snubbed at the Academy Awards. It is a shame that this film did not receive the recognition it should have, but that just makes it another one of those overlooked gems.

Not a horrible movie but not very good. It is well done at times. It moved pretty slow and the limited action doesn't quite get the job done (though I am not a pure action fan). Clooney is OK and that is all that matters. This movie tried to be un-hollywood but in the end it turned out to be nothing.

Dreadfully pretentious George Clooney vehicle, directed by Anton Corbijn. Apparently the pair have been looking at arty thrillers from the 70s and decided they would have a go, too. Clooney always seems miscast when he's in anything but a romcom and that's the case here. He's joined in the Italian location by what look like a couple of Vogue models playing, as they do, contract killers. It's attempt to be cool is embarrassing especially when compared to the kind of films (Bertolucci's The Conformist and Melville's Le Samurai spring to mind) that it seeks to emulate.

A sloooooooow movie that kind of drags on forever. I guess they may have been going for several things here - artistic, thoughtful, well-shot, but all that really came across was kind of dull. George Clooney certainly is game and does what he can, unfortunately we never really get to know his character and beings how he rarely talks and is on screen in pretty much every shot, there's no emotion connection. Good for putting you to sleep.
