"Kick-Ass" by Amanda

Yes I read the graphic novel. Why are they making a sequel to this flick centered around Hit-Girl? Well ...that was all that was enjoyable about this typical, standard, predictable, flashy, super-hero saturated, pop-corn-choking flick. Seeing the trailer and calling it a day is cheaper, saves you time, and shows off the funniest moments in the flick as well as the best Hit-Girl beat-em-up sequences.

Nicholas Cage thinks he's Batman and raises his daughter, Hit-Girl, as the ultimate assassin. Nerdy kids with no life and no martial arts experience take to the streets in spandex and get completely destroyed by criminals. Then there is a crazy action explosion yet predictable plot twist. It involves a Lex Luthor-like villain, betrayal...all emobodied in a nerdy teen's quest for the …

Moretz is this film!

Lee - wrote on 09/03/2012

Wayyy better then i thought it would be and boyyy i am so lovin Chloe Moretz right now! I have seen a lot of children actors or teens if you will come and go but none as near fantastic as Chloe is! Putiing it mildly thisfilm wouldve probably straight up sucked if it wasnt for her contribution to the film! Dork boy Dave tells his buddy why aren't there any real superheroes?? After putting that into persepective he shops online and buys (the most ridiculous looking scuba suit i have ever seen) his outfit and bang! He has become the watcher of the streets 'Kickass' Before you know it he has become an internet sensation as someone films the first time he attempts to break up 3 toughs trying to beat up 1 guy, and they drop it on Youtube. This brings to attention yet another real to life …

"Kick-Ass" by Yojimbo

When teenage geek Dave Lizewski decides to become a superhero even though he has no powers whatsoever he becomes an overnight internet celebrity, not reckoning on meeting a couple of real vigilantes in the form of a vengeance obsessed ex-cop and his daughter. In the real world, what kind of people would want to don tights and become crime fighters? It would probably be a combination of inept, comic obsessed nerds and violent psychopaths, and so it is in Kick Ass. The film is a kind of homage to comic book heroes. Or a grittily dark high octane action film. But neither. And both! It's a bit hard to describe because it's quite shizophrenic in nature; one minute teenage nerd comedy as it concentrates on the character of Dave, the next a kick ass action movie when Hitgirl and Big Daddy crash …

Kick-Ass review

It starts with a geek who is fascinated with superheroes, and wants to make a difference. He stumbled into an accident that made him irresistible to pain. Hit girl is a preteen who is very skilled with blades and martial arts. Her father that looks like the masked vigilante we all know has a lot of angst. I had second thoughts about watching this movie since it looked cartoonish or another superhero flop. The first few scenes were okay since your trying to get to know the characters. Kick Ass was discovered thru a video recorded from a cellphone. The main villains are nasty, the cars are as cool as Fast and the Furious, the costumes well thought of. The plot is reasonable; my only critic would be the way it was shot. It felt it was like a huge video-game (ala Green Lantern …

awesome movie! it surprised me actually. i never thought that this movie is as brilliant as this! i will definitely recommend it to others although i will give them a "brutality allert". this is the best comedy-action i have ever seen.

the story is really really really great! when i saw it on trailer, i knew i will watch it. the plot outline is very good and the whole story movie is simply great! both realist and idealist peoples will love this movie!

indeed, well- directed and well-written. the shots are really fantastic and also the transitions. i am now a fan of Vaughn! i haven't seen his other movies or maybe i just don't know if he directed it but i really love the entire movie (well, except for the brutal scenes, i'm not a fan of that thing)!

I GUESS, THIS IS WHAT BATMAN …

Get a Load of Me

This truly blew me away. Going into this film, I expected a little less than average action/comedy along the lines of "Superhero Movie" or "Rush Hour," but I have to say that this movie was so incredibly well-directed and well-written that I have to recommend it to everyone who will listen to me. Hands-down, this movie was the best comic book movie since "The Dark Knight" and "Iron Man." I would feign say that this is even better than possibly "Iron Man," but I won't so I don't eat my words after seeing it a second time. The traditional plot structure makes the movie easy to follow, but the story is so intricate and intriguing that you can't help but be surprised by certain aspects of it. As performers, everyone holds their own very well. i'm excited to see that new young actors …

"Kick-Ass" kicked a LARGE amount of ass

The Film Rebel - wrote on 04/19/2010

Ah, "Kick-Ass." It. Has. ARRIVED!! For many people, "Kick-Ass" ranked at about..oh...I don't know...um...#1 on their highest anticapated of 2010. For me, it was only about #10. I've never read the original comics by Mark Millar but I had some pretty high expectations going into this movie. The trailer made movie looked action packed and funny as hell, and the reviews were per-eeeee-ty good. So, I was hyped. I went in excited and came out...well...adequately satisfied. I thought it was definitly a good movie and its definitly a movie that could become a cult classic. However, at the same time, I was somewhat mixed.

However, with a second watch, it was MUCH better. This is easily my second favorite movie of the year so far. I had so much fun the second time. This is just one of those …

Best Comic Book Movies Since the Dark Knight

The SHC - wrote on 04/18/2010

Remember when I said that Shutter Island is the best film of 2010 so far? Well, that movie just got replaced. Kick-Ass may possibley be the best comic book movie since the Dark Knight. It's that awesome. It may be that I'm just geeking out, being a fan of the comic book and a huge comic geek myself. I know this pun has been used to death, but I'm gonna say it anyway: Kick-Ass kicks ASS!

PLOT- The plot is awesome, and is a very clever spoof of superheroes, as well as an interesting analysis on what it would like to be a superhero in our world, and how the public would react to it. I think there's alot of truth towhat Dave says in the beginning: Why hasn't anyone ever tried to be a superhero before?

SCRIPT- A very well done script. Whoever was the screenwriter did a great …

So what makes a superhero? Costume? Check. Name? Check. Secret Identity? Check. Super Powers? Not so fast.

Kick-Ass is what you get when you're Bruce Wayne with no money and no motivation. Just a regular kid who is tired of watching others do nothing - including himself - while the city is rife with crime. Of course the first thing that happens is he's severely beaten and nearly killed.

Lucky for us, it'll take more than a few weeks in the hospital to stop a would-be superhero. It also helps that most of his nerve endings were damaged enough that any future beatings will not feel so bad. When a fight is broadcast on the Internet, and Kick-Ass gains instant fame, he also gets in deeper than he could possibly imagine.

Aaron Johnson is great choice for the erstwhile hero. He's just …

KIcks More Than Just Ass

Unknown - wrote on 04/18/2010

A movie that lives up to it's title... and then some! 'Kick-Ass' delivers more than what is promised. It's a fun, hilarious, and ultra-violent ride. The story is not the typical super-hero one, though it is presented as such, borrowing and commenting on staples from comic-book lore in general. It takes place in a believable real-world, with some fantasy elements thrown in to great entertainment. The tone is perfectly balanced, being both pure at heart and also dark to the core. There are harsh repercussions to the violence that play into the main character's ark and you do feel like some lesson is learned from his vigilante dreams. In this regard, it is faithful to the comic it's based on and even improves on the material substantially. I completely enjoyed every minute of …
