Andrea Arnolds Fish Tank ist das Portrait einer zornigen und isolierten 15jährigen, die chancenlos einem Leben voller Leid ausgeliefert ist. Mia (Katie Jarvis) is a volatile fifteen year old girl; rude and obnoxious as any teenage girl can be, who lives with her foul mouthed younger sister and their party hardy bleached blonde mother in a tough district of London, England.
Mia dreams of being a dancer but spends most of her time fighting with her Mom or drinking beer after being kicked out of school. Her life seemingly takes a turn for the better when Mom brings home a new boyfriend, the enigmatic Connor (Michael Fassbender) who is ruggedly good looking.
