A fascinating portrait of the genius of Michael Jackson. You can see the love and craft that he is putting into his final run of shows and it is a fitting tribute to the legendary collection of hits the man has produced. |

A decent enough movie about Michael Jackson's rehearsals before his death. I have trouble labeling this as a documentary as all it really is is rehearsal footage, with very little insight from anyone. I would have loved to hear some of the perspectives from the dancers, crew, or director. Instead all we really get is watching someone rehearse a concert. MJ is great, but after about 30 minutes, I got a little bored. Guess I was wanting to learn more about the show rather than just watch people practice it. |

As a Michael Jackson fan, this was incredible to see. You got to watch the master at work, because in all honesty, as far as showmanship is concerned, MJ was second to none. No one worked harder at giving the fans what they wanted, and no one worked so hard to use music as a form of communication about important issues about environmentalism and love! A must-see for MJ fans! |

Going in, I hadn't really known what to expect, aside from his rehearsal footage. As it turns out, "This Is It" was what his concert would've been, if he had been alive to stage it. What stuck out most from the interviews was their dedication to their work, and it was because of Michael Jackson's direct and intimate touch with how he wanted his concert to be. Throughout the show, and since this was rehearsal footage, we got to see Jackson focus so strongly on his songs and choreography. The movie is a testament to his genius and poor substitute for what should have been the pinnacle moment of his career.
