Director Grant Heslov aims for a quirky comical style in the vein of the Coen Brothers in this comedy-drama;supposedly based off a true story. Unfortunately it's terribly uneven and the story doesn't flow as easily as it believes it does. Ewan McGregor is trying as the only actor whose character has a real arc with development. The high calibar cast that includes George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Spacey, Robert Patrick, Stephen Lang, and Nick Offerman is pretty much wasted. They're playing strange caricatures to fit the movie's broad sense of humor. It's really too bad because the factual events behind the movie really are fascinating.

I got to admit, I was thinking that this was going to be similar to a Cohen Brother's film. It was, but not necassaryily in a good way. For this movie to have the great actors that it does, I thought Clooney and McGregor were the only ones that even remotely stood out. Bridges and Spacey mailed it in. The movie itself, though quirky just didn't quite feel right. I expected better out of this cast. Still good, but definately not great. Rent this, don't buy it. It's a good popcorn flick, but not much more.

You've got to love psychic hippies who call themselves Jedi. A perfectly-cast film that had me laughing plenty - only a weak ending keeps this from being a true classic.

A very very strange movie, that's nothing at all like it was advertised, which is understandable because if it was advertised as it truly is, nobody would want to see it. Nonsensical, slow, and boring despite a great cast. After an hour I was still wondering what was going on, and the end didn't help any at all. Not sure what they were going for here.

This film certainly wasn't horrible. It was simply, as the FilmCrave official 2-star definition says, "just so-so." I was expecting a cross between "Charlie Wilson's War" and "The Informant!", and this one just didn't measure up.

I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, I thought it was great. don't go if you're expecting logic. I would describe this movie as zany. And the greatest thing is, it's based on a true story. My only real problem with it is Stephen Root is introduced at the beginning as a vet from this crazy army group, then in later flashbacks he doesn't appear.

"The Men Who Stare At Goats" was hysterical! One of the best casts assembled brings to light one of the most fascinating true stories told in recent modern history. The government funding a program that uses psychics in the United States Defense...incredible! George Clooney is great as usual, as is Ewan McGregor. Jeff Bridges is brilliant, though I really can't stand his voice. But the best performance was by Kevin Spacey who was both sinister and hilarous! A great must-see movie!
