Based on the book, base on a tree. A soldier home on leave finds himself falling for a conservative college student. This movie is a sloppy cliche mess that you seen before with other movies.

I don't think any Nicholas Sparks movie can top The Notebook, maybe that's why I didn't enjoy this one, I was too busy waiting for it to be better or the same

Terribly dull. I don't like the two main characters, so that's a great start, eh? I find none of the characters interesting at all. The father was the only remotely interesting one, but he died. The plot tries to twist by having the girl married someone else, but they end up together anyways. So, it's exactly like every other romance movie made nowadays (God, I sound like an old man). Overall: Overacted and boring. If you want a good love story, check out Shakespeare in Love.

More or less this movie was a let down. While usually I would refuse to watch most drama/romance movies I really loved the notebook, a movie based on another book by Nicholas Sparks. This however was draining to watch, the characters while portrayed by decent actors seemed to have no life in them. Stereotypical, bland and mellow dramatic to a fault. The 'twist' in the movie was well done, as I had not read the book though it does seem like a reoccurring theme with Sparks, it wasn't nearly as well done this time around. This movie is forgettable and unrealistic.

so another good story by Nicholas Sparks.. I love the story until savannah sent the "goodbye" letter to john.. i just don't like the twist, that savannah married tim.. again, the story is GOOD, but personally i don't like the ending.. the movie is kinda short for me.. they hugged and the credits start to came up.. the acting is good.. i saw john cried as i expected.. this movie had more budget than a walk to remember.. but the simplicity of a walk to remember knocks this off ( for me)! now i am waiting for the last song and i'm intrested to read its book ( dear john)...
