Cabin in the Woods is the ultimate horror movie lover's meta paradise. In an obvious (and sometimes not so obvious) homage to all things horror, the film dissects the horror film cliches and requirements in an interesting and often exciting way. The film's third act is when things go from insane to batshit crazy and the film delivers in a big way, in terms of action and movie references. As someone who only casually enjoys certain horror films, I wasn't as rabid as a lot of other viewers surely will be, but I thought the film was very well-executed, often pretty funny, and never boring.

Everything about this movie was good. The plot was excellent, it was very funny, and in one of the more gory scenes, the gore was gruesome. Bradley Whitford and that one other dude were hilarious. However, it wasn't very scary. But then again, are any horror movies really scary? I don't think so. Also, Kristen Connolly is very cute and attractive. All I can say is that it's like no other horror movie you've ever seen.

This is one of the most entertaining and surprising horror films I've ever seen. Expertly written and directed. The story takes a usual horror concept, rips it apart and builds it into something wildly unique and referential to the entire genre. The constant twists and turns add up to one jaw-dropping, chaotic and blood-soaked finale. Continuously inventive, hilarious, tense and FUN! Completely satisfying and an absolute blast to watch! This is one film you don't want to miss.
