District 9, to me, was a movie you have to really be patient with and understand the documentry slash sci-fi slash comedy style based movie. What jumped out to me the most was the amount of years the Aliens had been living in Africa.Could you find your self adapting to that kind of evalutionary change.I think it would be to much. For me the movie was a great film to wath but a hard line to follow.

not just your typical sci-fi film. It's about race relations and how we view race today. The aliens are treated like Native Americans put into reservations and are about to be moved to another relocation camp. It also has hints of the way we treat Hispanics, just wanting them to "go home." It's a thinking man's science fiction film, not just one for fans, but one the public can enjoy. The special effects are first rate, as you would come to exspect from Peter Jackson. As I've said before, I'm not a big sci-fi fan, but this is definately a must see.

District 9 is the best sci fi movie in a while and was very much needed in a summer of disappointing movies. Check it out.

After a very promising beginning, it doesn't quite reach to the height's it had potential for. Although the look and the idea of the film had promise for the years best film. Still it is one of the most interesting films this year and definitely worth seeing in theatre!

This was enjoyable, a good movie. However, when I look back at it all I can remember is what kept it from being great. First, too much of it reminded me of Halo...gee I wonder why. Second, the main character was so odd that I never felt connected with him. I don't know if it was intended, but he seemed stupid, ignorant, yet understood things as the movie went on. It just seemed that he would never have gotten the job he was given and never would have reacted the way he did as the movie went along. Oh, and there was a major flaw with the ship being stalled over that city. I won't go into detail, but if you've seen it you probably know what I mean. I enjoyed it, but it could have been more.

Okay, I have to say that this movie was brilliantly put together. I'm not going to go so far as to say that this movie was the best of the year [which many of my cohorts believe]. However, this took a relatively unique idea and transformed it into a believable situation with likeable and "real" characters that we could connect with. Characters were flawed, but also were human. The Prawns were what we would expect them to be, but interesting enough to be unique. I loved Neil Blomkamp's take on the alien/apartheid story and expect great things from him to come.

An engrossing film that mixes action, sci-fi, and suspense all into one. Extremely original, on paper if you saw this movie summarized you probably wouldn't think it successful, but it succeeds every - story, acting, special effects, etc. I kept guessing throughout what was going to happen and I was usually wrong. It truly is worthy of the hype it's been receiving and shouldn't be missed. Just goes to show you don't need A list stars to make a film - have a good story and solid acting and that's all you need.
