Well, it's no mystery that Robert Downey Jr. can take any role he wants and turn it into his own masterpiece. He really is a pleasure to watch on screen. . I can't say whether Holmes was kept true to character, because I've never read any of the books. Though, and correct me if I'm wrong, I'm quite certain that Holmes wasn't known for his "ass kicking" abilities. I believe that was an added trait.
The actual film was lacking. I was slightly turned off after the first 8 minutes once I realized that this was going to be one of those "supernatural" mysteries--very Scooby-Dooish. It seemed so out of place. Everytime something "supernatural" happened I felt like "Why is this happening? Can we get to the bottom of this already, because it clearly makes no sense."
