"Amistad" is one of Spielberg's hollow Oscar bait films, but it isn't without good performances and a few decent scenes.

Far more contrived and therefore less powerful than Schindler's List, this is still a worthy drama tackling another of the most monstrous chapters in our history. It's also nice to see an American film where the Brits are the good guys for a change!

One of Steven Spielberg's underrated later masterpieces. The acting is top notch, but the story is what really shines through - inspiring and also reminding of a tough period in American history.

Underrated Spielberg film with great performances. I'm not very fond of Matthew McConaughey, but... whatever. Is not a bad a film because of him.
