That momment where we realize how empty and pointless our life is, is a momment we treasure forever. Also the momment where we start to value our relationships. That momment when we see what we gave in change of losing the most important in life. The movie is an icon of all that, done wonderfully and acted even better. Fantastic score. I cry everytime I see the ending. Oh... can't forget to mention the voiceover. One of the best ever.

If you think suburban life is pedestrian, make it a point to watch American Beauty where dysfunction, in all its many faces, is shown. It's an emotional ride rife with dramatic tension with an end that leaves you pondering your own life.

One of the best movies of 1999 with stunning performances from the entire cast. This is close to a masterpiece.
