While it would be easy to deduct points for its blatant inaccuracies, "Amadeus" makes up for it by going the extra mile by doing more than tell the story of someone's life. It touches on themes of obsession, censorship, and depicts what could be considered the "music industry" of the time.

"Because if you lived, as I did, several years under Nazi totalitarianism, and then 20 years in communist totalitarianism, you would certainly realize how precious freedom is, and how easy it is to lose your freedom." RIP Milos Forman

There might be a historical inaccuracy with regards to the relationship of Mozart and Salieri. The latter was never the instigator of Mozart's death. Simon Callow portrayed a brilliant gifted musical talent. He showed the brash, confident and personality of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The costumes and set pieces were elegant and obviously the score very grand. Wonderful performances and a good screenplay and cinematography, Amadeus delivers.

Probably the biggest musical biography ever. It's a fantastic movie that plays to music and film lovers and pretty much anyone else. Amadeus is portrayed as a surprisingly fun character and Saliari makes a great rival.

One of the most lavish costume dramas created and an intriguing story. Holds up well on second viewing. One of the better non-sentimental movies to come out of the 80s.

A masterpiece in every aspect - acting, cinematography, soundtrack, direction, production design, etc. Makes you think deeply about the spiritual nature of creativity and jealousy.

Tom Hulce makes excellent movies. And, this one is no different.

This is probably one of the best movies ever made directed by one of the most brilliant directors of all time. "Amadeus," based on the play of the same name by Peter Shaffer [who also wrote "Eqqus"], is incredible as it is terrifying. Salieri is one of the most insane of all the most insane villains. Its so incredibly good that I can hardly write any more about it, lest I dissolve the moment.

Who would have thought that a story about a composer from the 1700s could be so good? Amadeus is funny, dramatic and exciting. Both Tom Hulce (Mozart) and F. Murry Abraham (Salieri) gave performances of a lifetime. Both were nominated for Best Actor and Murry won (too bad they both couldn't win -- they both deserved to). The movie won a total of 8 Oscars, including Best Picture. This story, supposedly based on Motzart's actual life, but told from the perspective on Court Composer Salieri, Motzart's mortal enemy, is full of humor, politics, corruption, intrigue and revenge. This show has it all (even if you're not a fan of classical music). Seen it dozens of times and love it!

An all-time favourite. Amazing acting and, of course, music!
