"Ali" is well acted, but is seriously lacking in memorability.

Michael Mann's biographical sports drama about Muhammad Ali cannot be faulted for lack of ambition. But I will fault it for being meandering and slow paced. Will Smith is very good as the famed boxer though. Mann's attention to detail remains impressive but his insistence of covering every moment in Ali's life makes it very very slow. Jon Voight provides brief interruptions of frivolity and humor playing Howard Cosell.

The life and times of Muhammad Ali whole life. Will smith gives a great job playing Muhammad Ali in the movie but i got to say that Muhammad at the first came off as a ass-hole and really unlikable, but as the movie went on his character didn't came of as a jerk.

Ali seems like a really interesting man, so I don't know why this movie is so boring. Will Smith's charm just doesn't shine through in this movie.

Not much of a biopic of Ali. It mixes in a lot of things including quite a bit about Malcolm X, but nothing is in-depth enough to have any real meaning. The film follows Ali problems and his success but he never seemed to become a fully realized character. That is not helped by Smith's strange imitating performance that does not work well, and most of the time he gives the same uncaring look even in scenes that it makes no sense whatsoever. It needed a more in-depth look at Muhammad Ali, it is not just a glorification of him since he shows his poor treatment of his wives but it never really gets into that in any meaningful way either.

This movie, more than any other movie, made Will Smith into a respected actor.
