A powerful family drama that's one of the best from 2008. Anne Hathaway is stunning; she completely deserved her Oscar nomination.

Anne Hathaway puts on an acting clinic here. The film's pedestrian style and almost documentary style way of shooting dramatic scenes makes it raw, emotionally arresting, and one of the best movies of 2008.

Redemption is a gritty process. It is baffling why the supporting performances of Debra Winger and Rosemarie DeWitt went mostly unrecognized by awards. Stunning work. I wish the family had been more of an every-family, more identifiable, not so rich and musically idiosyncratic.

Worth it just to watch Anne Hathaway play such a damaged character. If the story was anywhere near as interesting as the characters, it would be great. As it is, it's still pretty good - but it's not going to replace anything on my list.

it dragged. the story was interesting for a while until it started to get really wacky. these types of movies constantly amaze me. they look like they're shot from a hand held camera, and are really boring. it is also shocking how they manage to get these big actors to do these kind of movies.

Good Direction, Writing and Acting (Especially Anne Hathaway). But the film spends to much time on scenes that do not matter making it very dull and boring. Too Bad.

This movie was pretty bad. Hathaway was great. But, I felt like I was watching someone else's wedding tapes..someone I didn't know. It was painful for me. Boring!

Anne Hathaway is certainly one of the most beautiful actresses there is. And, she definitely does this movie justice. It's better than "the Devil Wears Prada," and waaaaaaaaay better than anything else she's ever done. Of course, I've never seen anything else she's done, but still.

I'm just going to get this out of the way now, Anne Hathaway was brilliant and was snubbed for the Oscar. The movie itself, was, "different." I can't quite place my finger on it, but besides moving deathly slow (having to listen to every speech at the dinner table). But, there was too many characters, we never really get to know any of them, even Kym, we just learn bits and pieces throughout the film that we have to piece together. But, you also feel sorry for them. Them being every single person in the film. This is not a film for everyone, it has some flaws, but decent none-the-less.
