Marley and Me

The film which stars Jennifer Aniston (Jenny), Owen Wilson (John), Eric Dane (Sebastian), Kathleen Turner (Mrs. Kornblut) and Alan Arkin (Arnie Klein). I was really surprised how engaging the story, dog and characters were. The story telling was never wearisome and the pace was always moving. Making you wait for the next scene to happen. Jenny and John adopt a puppy, the first one who went to them. The couple marries and as their family grows so does the troublesome Marley. They learn a lot being with him, John and Jenny learn more about themselves. The premise may seem simple but the execution was really effective and delightful. The film would not have been good without the flexibility of the main leads. Rarely do you see Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston stretch their acting …

Marley and Anyone But Me

It would take a dog fanatic (and you know who you are) to love this romantic comedy cum household horror fantasy that is centered around a hyperkinetic canine. Frenzied is not too strong a term to describe the exaggerations of pet behavior for the sake of creating a unique starring animal role. To the rest of us, the notion that a young married couple would forgive and forget the devastation caused by this abhorrent graduate from terror school named Marley strains credulity as much as comfort level.

While it's based on a memoire, and it purports to be based on the author's true-life experiences with his Labrador Retriever, the screen version is way too exaggerated to believe that this approaches a faithful representation of the reality. The idea that Marley's so cute and lovable that …

Marley's a Good Dog

There is sad and then there is Marley sad. Most sad movies don't affect me that much, but this one really was over the top. By the time I left the theater, the small crowd of 8 that went to see it was all in tears.

It was the story of John Grogan, a man who surprises himself. In the movie he wants to be a reporter but finds that he is better writing columns about his dog and life. Instead of accepting this, he makes himself unhappy with the circumstances. Meanwhile, his wife Jennifer, is in a similar boat since she quit her job at the newspaper to be a full-time mother. What neither one of them realize is how good their life really is.

I think this is a great story of how life surprises you and you can make whatever you want out of it. It is a good message that things get tough …

The world's worst dog

The book Marley and Me is oftentimes referred to as a book chronicling stories about a misbehaved dog. However, if you dig a little bit deeper, the book focuses on how one dog affects a couple, prepares them for a family, and how unconditional love from man's best friend makes someone a better person.

The directors of the flim version of Marley and Me wisely focus on the deeper themes of the book, as Wilson and Aniston play the couple that purchase a puppy that becomes a huge part of the lives. Some of the more memorable scenes from the book make it to the movie, such as Marley's fear of thunderstorms and how Marley terrorizes a dog sitter, but for the most part, some fictionalized parts have been added in to create a story of a family and their pet (Aniston is given a bigger role, …

Instant Classic!!!

Marley & Me is a instant classic. Director David Frankel outdoes himself. Owen Wilson shows that he is one truly great actor with his performance in this movie. This is real life stuff acted out so naturally on the big screen. Owen Wilson and Jeniffer Aniston start a life together. They both decide to take baby steps, and instead of bringing a baby into the relationship before they both have their priorities straight, they decide to take on the responsibility of caring for a dog; first. From the beginning this movie captures your heart and keeps you on your toes with what might happen next. This movie depicts what a pet truly can mean to your life throughout the years it shares with you and your family. Marley shows just how important and intertwined a pet becomes to the family core. I …
