A decent stab at Arthur C. Clarke's novel that's well worth watching for anyone who had trouble grasping the plot to 2001. Here it's all explained and as such makes a good companion piece to the original.

Space Odyssey's Trilogy is a marvelous saga. Of course 2001 is the best by all means, and by far. I really was expecting a giantic piece of crap here. It wasn't, but it wasn't great either. Thre were special well made parts, according to the book, the trilogy, obviously, it's too big for a director like Hyams. You can't think about this one like a sequel, but, yes like a good asterisk, if you want, to continue with the story. Most of it, average, a lot could have been done better, but not as bad as you may expect.

This is a very disappointing follow up to "2001." I am honestly confused why they ever tried to make this movie. 2001 was confusing, but this one does nothing but lag in originality and explanation. Not worth your time no matter how what.
