It's, yet another, good movie tainted by the racism of the time in which it was made. However, it does have it's good points as well. Which, by the way, does NOT include Bogart's messed up haircut.

Raoul Walsh directs this crackling noir with Bogart terrific as the killer caught between women. Would make a fine double-feature with Bogey's other success of the same year, The Maltese Falcon. Final Grade: B
