A strong film that explores themes of faith, dedication, and pacifism with respect and insight. Gary Cooper is at his most grave here and Anthony Perkins, in a pre-Psycho role, is also a standout as Cooper's earnest son. The film also boasts a great and stirring theme song, maybe better than the film itself.

I remember this movie because the people were Amish and I thought it should have been called "Thy Friendly Persuasion."
