Dark, depressing film with a sort of surreal atmosphere. Dark and dreamlike, similar to Eraserhead.

While the film is an acquired taste, it is also one of the most innovative and spellbinding films of the 1990s. If the breathtaking visuals and elegant script writing do not win you over, the ending almost certainly will (or make you hate it more).
