Noah Baumbach gets a few dark laughs out of this dramedy about a group of dysfunctional and unstable family members.

Well acted and scripted, its just all a bit miserable. Jack Black pushes the comedy button and gets laughs, but sadly the film isn't centered around him. A shame.

Margot at the Wedding is one of the best movies of 2007. The script is nearly perfect and the performance from Nicole Kidman is outstanding and should have won awards. The performances from Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jack Black were also top notch. If you're a fan of The Squid and the Whale and other similar films, you will LOVE Margot!

Not a terribly exciting movie. I don't mind a good film about characters, but it's important to see characters grow or connect with the viewer somehow, which doesn't really happen here. I will say I was pretty impressed with Nicole Kidman as she absolutely disappears into her role and envelopes the character. Jack Black is annoying as usual, though he does have a couple of funny lines. Other than that, it's 90 minute running time feels like 2 hours.

The entire movie was a waste of time. Yeah, the acting was great and Jack Black was pretty funny at times. But, there was no point. It looked like they were trying to make a point - in the end, all cast members had severe mental problems.

I like Noah Baumbach's films. He's one of the few ppl making movies that feature real characters that I feel I can identify with. Sure, everything's a little more fucked up Or maybe life is really like that. The movie was very funny. While not a masterpiece like The Squid and the Whale, I felt it was a must see movie.
