Keri Russel does her job, but the actual movie isn't that crazy. She plays this Southern pie maker who hates her husband and has an affair. It doesn't really get any deeper than that. It's one of those movies that you can't fall in love with. Well, I guess some can, but it's just cute. Not amazing.

Is this supposed to be considered cute? This is not just a mockery, it's a sham...it's a SHAMOCKERY. "I hate my husband pie" ?? The only thing worse than that is having that uttered in a hideous southern accent. B-A-D...and frankly, it being this bad is an insult to all womenkind.

A pretty entertaining film. It's sort of like Juno for adults. Keri Russell is very strong as a waitress stuck in an unhappy life when she discovers she's pregnant. An affair with her doctor rejuvenates her life. Oh yeah, and apparently she's a pie genius and makes really good pies. Nothing too heavy here, it's good enough for a watch. There's a really good turn by Andy Griffith as the diner's grumpy owner.

A good film because it managed to balance the comedy and the drama. There are a lot of quirky characters but the film respects instead of making fun of them. Although the ending was too optimistic, I felt like the characters deserved where they ended up. Although the middle meandered at times, it was more than forgiven due to the smart script and deft direction. I don't think it's as great as critics made it out to be. Sure, it's tragic that the person who directed this film had been murdered (she was also an actress) but it's inexcusable to hold this movie in such a high regard because of that. It's good but not great. If one is into small town comedies with strong characters and unconventional storylines, this is a winner.

This was a wonderful little movie. Great performances all around, especially by Cheryl Hines, Keri Russell, Jeremy Sisto, and Nathan Fillion. I had been hearing a lot of good things about it but never got around to seeing it in the theater so I was eagerly awaiting the DVD release. It didn't disappoint. Russell's letters to her baby were probably my favorite part of the movie. I always enjoy Jeremy Sisto and I thought he did a good job in this one. Cheryl Hines was really funny as usual and I enjoyed her character. I am deeply saddened by the loss of Adrienne Shelly, especially given the circumstances, but I am glad we have this film to remember her by.

This movie was actually rather sad and depressing. What made it a little more interesting to me was that the Writer/Director was murdered in her NYC apartment before the movie released..quite tragic. I thought it was a great performance by Keri Russell too.
