Though, it does have it's share of violence, this film works more on the psychological level. It's controversial past is partly due to the visuals, but is more associated with the questions behind the reasonings of the characters actions.

A pretty jarring film that shares similar themes on sex and violence as "A Clockwork Orange" or "A History of Violence," but isn't quite as captivating as those films. I had a hard time getting past the uneven pace of the film; the first half is all slow-building exposition and the second an adrenaline-fueled action scene. It felt like two different films to me. The ambiguous ending was thought-provoking, though.

A film that is as violent as it is thought-provoking - it will leave you questioning each and every scene and needs to be seen more than once to get the full effect. It works on many levels and is truly a classic.
