Fritz Lang's "M" oozes with paranoia as it shifts focus from the panicked residents of a German city to the compulsive killer terrorizing them. With its darkened style, psychological undertones, and gripping suspense, it's not surprising that this early cinema classic is cited for its influence on American noir.

Director Fritz Lang does a lot with very little, using creative cinematography, shadows, and dramatic tension to paint a story of subtle terror and monstrosity. Peter Lorre is the right actor for the role of the grotesque killer and the film, for its age, is a lot more frightening and significant because of what it does show than what it does.

A greatly directed and absorbing slow thriller. There are some suspenseful moments in the second half that lead up to a confrontational climax in which some moral questions are raised. It's all topped off by a memorable performance from Lorre as the child murderer.

It's a great anti-vigilante, anti-death penalty movie. The story-line is also pretty good.

Simultaneously a magnificent suspense thriller (it inspired Alfred Hitchcock, for heaven's sake!) and investigation into the nature of evil, 'M' is exactly the kind of courageous cinema that is demonstrably lacking in our current celluloid climate.

The police and the criminals are out to catch the child murderer. Peter Lorre was a perfect choice for the role of child murderer. Evocative film There are versions with different endings.

Lang, so far, never disappointed me. He had this unique style and vision. M. Take in count that is 70 years old movie. The times were differents, and they didn't talk about some subjects so openly as today. Lang is a visionary and makes this thriller, father of films as Silence of lambs and every film that has a serial killer in it. An all time classic.

Transcending the limits of cinema, this masterpiece is a must-see. Right from the very start I was drawn in to this story of this criminal who was so terrible, that the whole underworld of crime rose up to try to stop him. Peter Lorre is the most chilling "bad guy" - maybe of all time.

For some reason, I can never get to the end of the movie. Not for me....
