Molly Shannon just breaks your heart. Her character can connect more with animals than humans--the issue of alienation was focused and pervaded the film. The movie also had a great balancing act of comedy and drama, not to mention it's done in a very refreshing way. I know this movie will be overlooked by a lot of people even though it doesn't deserve to be. This is a solid movie about animal lovers with a strong passion for protecting and establishing their rights. The jokes are fresh, subtle, and darkly comic--all of which I appreciated. I also loved how the film started out cute and evolved into something a little darker. It's kind of like a journey from a simple liking to obsession and madness. This is a small movie but it gives out strong emotional impact. Highly recommended.
