The most extraordinary film in years, P T Anderson's directing and writing is extraordinary, Daniel (god) Day Lewis's and Paul Dano's performances are extraordinary (as are all the others), Robert Elswit's Cinematography is extraordinary.... the list goes on. People say he's one dimensional, people say its too long, they're wrong.

The Movie Man - wrote on 05/13/2009

There Will Be Blood is a Frightening look at what one man will do, to get what he wants and the destruction he causes to get it. The film opens with a quiet twelve minutes, then after that, the film barely misses a step. It's well made, with good direction and a good screenplay that is sure to be quoted for years to come. Daniel Day Lewis is amazing as the ruthless oil tycoon, Paul Dano is good as the towns reverend and young Dillion Freasier is also quite good as Lewis' son. The film also has a very good score. There are two scenes in the film that are a stand out, I'm sure you know what they are. Slow at times, Though, It's still really well put together.

This is a well made film, I liked it, but looking back it seems overwrought, more dramatic than is realistically called for.

I have no clue what people like about this movie so much. People barely talked.... the plot was extremely hard to catch on to. This movie couldn't even keep me awake at 3 pm. The music played at unnecessary times. The only reason i gave it the half of the star is because of what happened in the church between the oil man and the maniac. this was very sad I'm sorry to those who liked this movie but, i would not recommend this to the younger veiwers

Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Thomas Anderson both have a knack in film for creating reality, no matter how bizarre and unimaginable. Anderson's reinvention of the Upton Sinclair novel, "OIL!" is nothing short of some of the best writing Hollywood has ever seen. Added to this are Day-Lewis and Paul Dano, two of the most gifted and talented method actors working. A searing and brutal film about the dangers of greed and the power of redemption, "There Will Be Blood" is a cinematic work worthy of praise.

An excellent commentary on morality and greed. Day-Lewis is an acting tyrant who truly becomes his roles. A great performance by upcoming actor; Paul Dano. Many layers in this film which makes for multiple viewings. A great mix of sound and visuals! Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea...
