Everything was just TOO. MUCH. Especially the grandiose acting and the claustrophobic score that was so invasive I couldn't even think. That ending was wretched, and I'm not talking about the blood. "There will be blasphemy." Dark movies like this have to have an emotional heart; (think Ellen Burstyn in Requiem) this movie just had a gaping void left where the two men had sold their souls.

I must say this film is truly amazing.this film is "the godfather" of this generation, and NO, im not over exaggerating.Paul Thomas Anderson proves again that he is truly one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.and of course Daniel Day Lewis's cunning acting and performance brings this film to a higher level of enjoyment.I recommend this film to anyone, cause if you haven't seen this film yet,you are truly messing out on a lot.

I would reccomend this movie to any one who loves a deep, emotional, movie and has about three hours to kill.

Daniel Day Lewis finally won the oscar he deserved for Gangs of New York. Though Daniel Plainview is obviously different from Bill the Butcher, it's still Daniel Day-Lewis with a badass moustache occasionally yelling and killing people. Great for anyone with a man crush on an awesome actor. Otherwise this movie would be considered pretty boring.

A good movie? Yes. Good performances? Yes. Good direction? Yes. Citizen Kane of our generation? Nope. Give that award to a movie that deserves it.

The movie is solid and I was suprised over how slow it was but when I realized it was not a action flick it was brilliant. Acting was really good and the characters was natural and felt real. a good 4/4 from me.

Enjoyed it, but it was rather long and drawn out. I'd rather see some more action for a title that provokes lots of violence. I give it a solid B.

Not content with delivering two of the best movies of the nineties, (Boogie Nights and Magnolia), Paul Thomas Anderson pulls another rabbit out of the hat with the sprawling old fashioned epic, "There Will Be Blood". Hinging on an astonishing performance from Daniel Day Lewis, this is a movie that deals subjectively with mans dangerous obsession for wealth and the startling parallels between capitalism and religion. Cinematography of the highest calibre complements this highly intellectual movie which was (unbelievably) beaten to the Best Picture Oscar by the highly overrated Coen Brothers movie "No Country for Old Men".

To be perfectly honest, I was utterly confused throughout the entire movie.
