This was not very good. But I’ve seen worse Christmas movies than this. The setup takes a while to get into gear. But I’ll admit, there are a few moments where I laughed. I think it was a mistake to go for broad slapstick when Ben Affleck is the lead. He is a good actor but not the right fit for this type of humor. James Gandolfini and Catherine O’Hara make the most of their roles.

Seems like a Christmas themed comedy involving family or romance comes at us every year. Most are hit or miss, but this one is neither. It's mildly funny and completely formulaic, but I don't dislike it. Maybe it's cause of the anti family and Christmas attitude that it sustains for at least the first half.

Affleck is a hit and miss kind of actor. He doesn't select his roles the same way that Damon does and it shows. I think the reason this movie gets the rating that it does is not because of Afflek... its because I like Gandalfini. Its a good christmas movie, and its definitly a little out there as far as comedys go, but it's not dreadfully horrible.
