Rife with bitterness and churlish vulgarity, "Step Brothers" is comedy straight from the gutter.

The story is about two men who have a lot of growing up to do. After being spoon fed their whole lives, their single parents meet, date, and later get married. This forces the two brothers to move in with each other. With little intelligence and a lot of competitiveness they both try to out do each other. That is, until one day they realize that they're best friends. This movie has so stupid scenes and also some funny scenes.

A lot of crazy over-the-top humor, but unfortunately there about as many stupid moments as well. Ferrell and Reilly are alarmingly convincing. A good laugh.

Some funny parts and an overall genuine heart, but there are also large sections where the actors are allowed to riff that meander and aren't as focused.

"Step Brothers" tells the story of two 40-year-old men who still live with their parents, acting like young children, due to the fact that they have been spoon-fed their entire lives. Richard Jenkins is by far one of the best actors I've seen to date, especially in a comedy. The acting all-around was better than most comedies, though I will say sometimes it became a little over-the-top, matching the premise and theme. I loved watching this movie with my friends and had a wonderful time doing it.

Has some funny moments, but even though I like both Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly they play such unlikable characters here that I just couldn't get too into it because it was so off-putting. Maybe it's time to give it a rest, boys.

Step Brothers is a comedy, if you can even call it that, that completely misses every chance at something good. Bad Direction, Bad Screenplay, Bad Story and Obnoxious(!) Characters. The film is occasionally funny only because of Ferrell, who, although good here, seems to be losing his appeal. The films major problem is the lack of chemistry between Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly (who should not do comedies). This movie is a misfire from the start and never recovers.

I loved loved loved the movie and even named my running team 'Boats n Hoes.' Got a lot of attention with the awesome shirts I found on Cafepress. Make sure you buy the best looking one which has two really sexy looking hoes on top of a yacht cuz it looks way more like what they would design for the movie. All the other shirts are kinda retarded looking. I really loved all the memorable quotes from the movie and could relate to the awkward moments involving Will Smith's brother and his family in the movie. So freakin hilarious.

It's funny, but not as good as some of Ferrell's earlier work. And has anyone noticed, but John C Reilly plays the same character in every movie from Boogie Nights to this?

An almost wholly mean-spirited and unfunny comedy with a premise that can only be humorous to 12-year-olds. One wonders why the parents put up with everything. The actors are all uncomfortable and over-the-top, and only a couple of the jokes work and the final half an hour is void of comedy which leaves a sour aftertaste. I have quite simply had it with Will Ferrell playing this same role over and over. Final Grade: D+
