Entertaining Star Trek Film

Ichabod Crane - wrote on 11/06/2009

Star trek is very good and could easily be the best Star Trek film. Now I am not really a fan of Star Trek< i like the original series but not in a devotee type of way that apparently some people took to the series and the later ones too. I really dislike those ones they just refuse to have any humor and try to be as emotionless as possible. Anyways though the movie is an enjoyable action adventure movies with some very good characters that are played well. Almost all their actors due their characters well although not better than the original actors except for Anton Yeltsin as Checkov He overdoes the accent and is just annoying. But the villain is good, the action is good and the story is good. The film is very fun and entertaining to watch. My only problem with it really was a few …

Star Trek (2009), a Mr. E Movie Review

Star Trek (2009), a Mr. E Movie Review

(Run time: 127 min. - Directed by: J. J. Abrams - Starring: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Eric Bana, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana)

I saw the previews, downloaded the trailers, attended a pre-release hype party, and lined up on the first night to see the new Star Trek movie. You might think I risked a chance of being over exposed or hyping a film up too much, and thus, risking an overly critical outcome…nope. Even with all the expectations this movie has not only lived up to the hype but it even surpasses it!

The movie’s about the origin of the USS Enterprise being launched from Earth into space and the original formation of her beloved crew. Kirk, Spock, Bones and Ohura graduate from the Star Fleet Academy and set off into space where the time …

Refreshing Scifi Movie!

spacelion88 - wrote on 08/06/2009

I'm not really a hardcore fan of the Star Trek franchise, I just watched some of the movies or the old TV shows every now & then, but I was AMAZED at how fantastically beautiful and exciting this scifi adventure was. And unlike the 1998 version of Lost in Space, I really felt a connection to the characters. I really cared about them. The dialogue, the cast & their interactions are perfect. Special effects are what you'd expect, nice detailed space environments, big explosions, shiny ships and hazy futuristic cities. There really aren't enough good scifi movies coming out these days, and Star Trek 2009 really delivered a nice refreshing space & time related story. It was like drinking an ice-cold orange-julius after being stranded in the dunes of Tatooine.

I have waited forever for this movie. Not a disapointment at all. I'm glad they stuck with the basic uniforms and what sounded to me like was the original back ground music and sound effects. The cast was incredible, i wish i new a better adjective. I just could not take my eyes off the screen. I have never seen the same movie twice in a theatre, but this could be the one to make me go back. There is no need to describe what happens, it's a typical Kirck/Spock adventure on the big screen. This now pushes its way to Second place, right after 'The Dark Knight'. One critic claimed this to be "Star Trek 90210,' in a way he was right, but Aaron Spelling couldn't write/create a single page that went into this masterpiece....I only hope the sequiel, which I'm sure is coming, can do what …

Excellent Movie

This was an extremely good movie. You don't have to be familiar with the previous versions of Star Trek to enjoy this movie. Of course, if you are familiar with it, there are lots of little inside jokes and a sprinkling of well known lines. I enjoyed the way it was rebooted. The plot was solid and everything fit together so nicely. It was full of humor, action, emotions and heart. The casting was excellent. Chris Pine stepped right into the shoes of James Kirk. He showed the spirit of the character. Zachary Quinto was outstanding as Spock. He deftly showed the emotions just below the surface in Spock. Leonard Nimoy's older Spock was a welcome treat. The movie was never slow or dull. It introduced the characters in an enjoyable, fast paced way. I can't wait for the next …

"Beamed Up Reboot"

MovieGuy878 - wrote on 06/11/2009

I have watched the movies and the tv shows but i dont consider myself a "Trekkie". Therefore, this movie wasnt that big for me even though its one of the biggest summer releases this year. That said. "Star Trek" is still a very good way to start off the summer movie season. The Star Trek franchise has had many shows and movies. Now, we get a reboot like "Batman Begins" did for the Batman franchise. This reboot doesnt quite reach the level of that reboot, but it's things look very promising. This one does what any first movie in a promising franchise should accomplish. What has been done here is an injection of more real feeling Star Trek Universe. The feel of new "Star Trek" at first may scream the CW , due to the presence of actors who seem as they would come from shows on that …

Officially Begins The 2009 Summer Movie Season.

Saw this almost a month ago and felt I should write a review since I haven't in awhile. This Star Trek, reboot you might say, captures all the old elements we came to love and made it a treat for Trekkies to watch, seeing all their favourite originals rendered by new actors. (Trust me, this'll launch their careers)

The action scenes are solid and dazzling, and really, you'll never get bored for a moment. New to Star Trek? Don't sweat it, you're not missing anything. The great thing about Star Trek is that it'll be able to attract a new younger audience to the original television series.

The Leonard Nimoy roll as a future Spock was very interesting, and made it even more irresistible. For those with an ignorant reputation, you no longer need to say you're ashamed you like it. Star …

Very Pleasantly Surprised

I always make fun of people who like sci-fi movies. They have always rubbed me the wrong way. I have always said that anyone who likes those movies is weird. I guess I'm weird now. This was a really good movie. I think I've only seen one Star Trek movie before this one (and not in its entirety) so I really can't make any comparisons. However, standing alone this was quite brilliant. Every moment was--well, a moment. It was intense, funny, action-packed. What more can one ask for? I also, truly truly appreciate the non-love story between Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana. I don't know that I have ever seen a movie where the girl was with the other guy and was really truly with the other guy. That was great. I'm not sure why I didn't give this four stars. Maybe if I see it again I'll change my …

Already Looking Forward to the Sequel

Franz Patrick - wrote on 05/14/2009

I’ve never seen an episode of the original “Star Trek” series nor have I seen any prior feature films. Having said that, I’ll review this picture as a stand-alone film instead of comparing it to the original television show and the ten movies that came before. I’m so glad that J.J. Abrams took over this franchise. Being familiar with his best work such as “Alias” and “Fringe,” I knew that, as a director, he would expertly balance three elements: humor, intelligence and thrilling action. Just when things would get too serious, a character would say something really funny to release some tension and avoid taking “The Dark Knight” direction (which is dark, brooding and heavy). “Star Trek” completely embraced a somewhat light-hearted tone and it worked because this …

The classic series rebirth is in top form.

Not even Star Trek, the science fiction TV show and movie series, could not avoid the trend where it seems everything is remade or re-booted. One of the many factors of Star Trek's rebrith is to maintain current fans, bring back lasped ones and usher in a new generation of Trek fans so the the series can reach out to a wider audience.

Star Trek opens with a rousing space battle between the U.S.S. Kelvin, temporarily commanded by George Kirk (Chris Hemsworth), and the Romulan vessel Narada, newly arrived from 120 years in the future. Nero (Eric Bana), the Narada's commander, has come to the past with very specific plans. After his devastating attack on the Kelvin, Nero remains in hiding for 25 years, awaiting the inevitable arrival of his hated enemy from the future.

In Iowa, an …
