Just win Baby!

One of the greatest sports movies ever. Not quite as good as Hoosiers (1986) or Bull Durham (1988) but right up there. I also secretly really enjoy Any Given Sunday (1999).

But back to this film. First off, it's shocking to see a really middle-aged Paul Newman. I'm either used to young Paul Newman or old Paul Newman, this was a new look of him, for me. But, he's great, as always, as the conniving team captain and resident hockey lifer. The Hanson brothers steel every scene their in, but aren't actually in this movie a whole lot.

I will admit, I kept waiting for Paul Newman to buy the team, but of course he does not.

Overall, it's an entertaining film with some great hockey scenes and of-course, the hilarious brawl/WWE fight during the last hockey game.

Watch this and …

I knew this film wasn't going to have an accurate depiction of the game, but it was simply lacking in laughs, something I thought it would contain. It is vicious, violent, and reduces hockey players to the level of neanderthals, something that I found insulting.

There is no real character …
