If you can look past its many dissimilarities to the Stephen King book it's based on, you'll find that Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining" is a disturbing psychological terror that did to hotel hallways what "Jaws" did to the ocean.

A wonderfully creepy performance from Jack Nicholson, an intensely claustrophobic atmosphere, surreal set design, and a relentlessly chilling powerhouse of a musical score makes The Shining one of the better films adapted from Stephen King's work.

"Here's johnny". The story is about a man and his family head to a isolated hotel to "house sit." As the loneliness sets in, the husband begins to go insane, while the boy sees things that no one else can. this movie is one of the best Stephen king book to ever but on the big screen. The director of this movie did so well with this and the movie is really creepy.

The Shining is one of the most complete and atmospheric horror films ever made, and ranks as one of the top adaptations of a King novel, as well. Kubrick creates an otherworldy setting of ghosts and psychosis that is more unsettling than outright terrifying (though the film knows how to create intense scares, when needed.) Jack Nicholson gives one of his career performances as the insane Jack Torrance, and the film just bleeds visual genius. The result is a movie that relies more on tension and plot-based fear, than on cheap "jump" scares and sight gags.

Nicholson gives us his best performance in this piece. I enjoyed it, but I also found it very slow and a little boring. "Here's Johnny" and Jack's frozen body will stick in my mind forever, but the rest of the movie is easily forgotten.

This of course is a classic, not the best horror movie, however if your a fan of horror this is not meant to be missed. One of Jack Nicholsons best roles leading with the famous"Here's Johnny". Trapped in a gorgeous true haunt site Stanley Kubrick brings the creepiness of the hotel to life on film.

Epic masterpiece of horror and humor. Eerie atmosphere, brilliant(if over the top)performances, this film scares as well as provokes laughter. Brilliantly directed by Kubrick.

one of the greatest horror films of all time.Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrence is brilliant and terrifying.Nicholson makes this film with his superb acting.but above all, with Stanley Kubrick's magnificant eye for colors and filmmaking.everything about this film was great, yeah it was slow at times, but it couldn't stop how good this film was.it was pure genuise.Mr.Kubrick creates Stephen King's book not only into A movie, but an experience.I loved it and I recommend it.
