Jaws-The Godfather of Shark Movies
4/4 stars

The fact that it's a classic owes all to the brilliant performances from the entire cast, the mix of drama and suspense (with the precise touches of gore), combined with the efforts of Bruce the Mechanical Shark, Jaws offered audiences of the '70s a terrifying experience about how humans did not entirely control the Earth; the ocean is a force we'd dare not harness. The great white explains why. With a dark and disturbing beginning that we all know and remember, the story unfolds like a beautiful graphic painting, through entertainment, humour and drama, all the way up the final few minutes where Chief Brody and Jaws square off in a fight to death! Brilliant stuff! I admire this film, being a shark fanatic, because of the shockwaves it sent through the history of cinema. I'm not surprised either. Knowing that the effects are dated, the performances echo forever. Jaws is an undying gem telling all of us that a classic never dies.
