More than just a Sports Movie
4/4 stars

Remember the Titans is filled with racisum, it's not just football. Based on a true Story, Remember the Titans is about the first black coach to coach high school football. He is met with immediate racial discrimination, especially from the white players, when he allows black players on the team. By the end, his team is the second best team in the country, and all apparent racism is forgotten. America is not free of racism yet, but movies like remember the Titans are a big step forward. It's also a movie that all can see, as it is PG. Remember the Tians is not just a movie about football, but it remains the Greatest Sports Film Ever Made.

Denzel Washington plays the Black coach, and rarley changes facil expressions. Usually i can't stand that. But as the movie progesses, and you see the crap his family goes through, you can understand why they had to do that. Two players on the team, one white and ne black, develope a close relationship, being closer than thier families are comfortable with. When one is paralyzed, the other goes to see him. The nurse sees him come in and tells him only family members are allowed in.

The paralyzed player says to the nurse: "Alice, are you blind? Don't you see the family resemblance? That's my brother." really, some see that as ridiculous, but i see it as symbolism. They are close enough to be brothers. That is perfect dialouge and perfect acting.

Remember the titans is more than a sports movie, and is a movie we may all see and carry a peice of with us forever.
